Virtue
One of the principles of Stoicism is to love in accordance with virtue. To do so is to excel or flourish in terms of our rational human nature.
The Four Cardinal Virtues
- Courage
- (bravery, perseverance confidence, authenticity)
- Temperance
- (orderliness, self-control, forgiveness, humility)
- Wisdom
- (perspective, good judgement and sense, excellent deliberations)
- Justice
- (good hardheartedness, benevolence, public service, fair dealing)
Virtue must be its own reward.
These cardinal virtues would later be adopted into Christianity via the Catholic Church.
