Living Rent

Living Rent is Scotland's Tenants and community union. It is a mass membership organisation that fights for tenants rights primarily through collective and direct action.

The union works on a principle of co-ordinated autonomy and is member led. It is formed of local branches across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, who work independently but come together to tackle issues on a city wide and national level.

Formed in 2014 as a campaign group to push for rent controls, the union in its current form began in 2016. As of 2024, membership had grown to over 4000 people. A housing bill that would bring in rent controls is at stage two in the Scottish Parliament as of June 2025, in part because of the work by Living Rent members.

Street by street, block by block, we will build power in our communities.
