Creating urgency might not work for adhders

If creating urgency isn't working for you, then there's a good chance you've been over relying on it for too long. Creating urgency is often one of the earliest coping mechanisms we ADHDers stumble upon, as the adrenaline caused by a looming deadline is a reliable way to trigger hyperfocus. Doing it too much for too long is also a great way to achieve burnout.

So if urgency isn't really working for you, don't sweat it. Focus on the other three variables for a while and then gradually try to reintroduce urgency. Preferably in the form of an accountability buddy rather than induced stress via unnecessary deadlines. Look after your brain; you've probably been beating it up for a while.
